Description(English) | Water has a 1.33-fold refractive index compared to air. Based on the principle, a plastic lens can be as effective as a glass lens. Accordingly, a transparent container is needed to change the shape of water. Also, any material with a higher refractive index and stability than water will give sufficient effects to lenses. So a swimming goggle lens pack is filled with silicon oil instead of water. Silicon oil is used because it excels water in its stable viscosity and refractive index. Users can adjust the amount of silicon oil in goggles to personalize the power of lenses in accordance with their visual acuity. |
