Guided by questions that address the relations among visual design, complex information and the ability of people to learn and adapt to unfamiliar processes, Prof. Brian Lucid’s practice-led research is concentrated upon the strategic implementation and refinement of digital environments to foster affective interaction with products, brands and services. His work with award-winning interaction design studio Proximity Lab has seen him undertake product strategy and user experience for some of the world’s most successful, and most trusted, cloud-based services.
Prof. Lucid currently serves as the Head of Ngā Pae Māhutonga, the School of Design at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. Acknowledged as providing one of the best design educations in the Asia-Pacific region, the school ranks in the top 100 art and design schools by QS and in 2017 was ranked 1st in the Asia-Pacific by the international design awards agency Red Dot. Prof. Lucid also leads the Weta Workshop School at Massey University, an innovative entertainment design postgraduate programme delivered in partnership with world-leading concept design studio Weta Workshop.
