Professor Taesun Kim serves as the Department Chair of Industrial Design and holds the Deputy Director of International Affairs position at Hanyang University's ERICA campus. She has a solid industrial design background, having completed her undergraduate (B.F.A.), master's (M.F.A.), and Ph.D. studies at Ewha Womans University in South Korea. Her diverse interests drove her to earn a master's degree (M.A.) in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University and engage in interdisciplinary research encompassing geriatrics and industrial design, community development and industrial design, and robotics and industrial design. Professor Kim's research interests are focused on inclusive design to enhance user experiences, particularly for vulnerable populations like older individuals, addressing societal challenges through social design, and designing interactions between humans and robots. These approaches reflect her dedication to balancing ecological and social considerations through design, aiming to foster a society characterized by sustainable prosperity. Throughout her career, she has actively engaged in academic research and design projects supported by both public and private sectors, including the Korea Research Foundation, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology, the City government of Ansan, Ansan Multi-cultural center, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and many others.

이화여자대학교 정보디자인과(산업디자인 전공) 졸업 후, 동대학원에서 산업디자인 전공으로 예술학 석사학위(M.F.A)와 미국 Carnegie Mellon University에서 예술행정(Arts Management_Visual Art)으로 문학 석사학위(M.A)를 받았다. 이후, 이화여자대학교 대학원에서 디자인 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 한양대학교(ERICA캠퍼스) 디자인대학 산업디자인학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 한국연구재단, 중소벤처기업부, 한국산업기술평가관리원 등에서 지원하는 디자인 연구 개발사업을 통해 제품 및 서비스의 사용자 경험, 고령자 등 사회적 약자를 위한 포용적 디자인(Inclusive Design)과 디자인을 통한 사회문제해결(Social Design)에 관심을 두고 학술연구와 개발을 하고 있다. 디자인을 통해 생태적 한계와 사회적 한계의 균형을 이루고, 역동적 번영의 사회를 만들고자 한다.
