While cutting boxes or paper, it is easy to overshoot the cutting area due to the cutting speed and inertia, which makes the users or even others prone to accidental injuries.
Cut&Retract is the redesign of a cutting tool whose blade will auto-retract at the moment when people finish cutting. Such function is achieved through the internal lever structure. No matter how fast the cutting process is, it prevents the blade from hurting people. The form and mode of interaction of this design were inspired by the nautilus, a marine creature who will retract into its shell in the face of danger.
