Description(English)	In this renovation, we were asked to propose a new guest room that invites young people to the ryokan. While respecting the Japanese character that is the characteristic of ryokan, we proceeded with a design that has a sophisticated beauty. While expressing Japanese “Wabi-sabi” culture and valuing the uniqueness of Japan, we explored a design that is favored by modern youth by sticking to materials and colors. “Wabi-sabi” values life in nature and sensitivity to seasonal changes. In this guest room, we have designed a space where you can enjoy the beauty by sticking to simple materials that match the changing scenery.
Description(Native)	日本の旅館では”おもてなし”のスタイルを大切にしており、宿泊することで日本独自のおもてなしを体験することが出来ます。しかしながら、ホテルやゲストハウスなど新しい形態の宿泊施設が増加し、若者の旅館離れは進んでいます。そこで”吉慶”では若者を旅館に呼ぶ新たな客室の提案が求められました。旅館の特徴である日本らしさを尊重しつつ、洗練した美しさをもつ設計を進めました。日本の”わびさび”文化を表現し、日本らしさを大切にしながらも、素材や色彩にこだわることで現代の若者に好まれるデザインを模索しました。”わびさび”は、自然の中での生活や季節の変化への敏感さを大切にします。この客室では景色の移ろいに染まるシンプルな素材にこだわることで、美しさを味わう空間を設計しています。客室の仕上げには自然素材を採用しています。無垢材や、漆喰、和紙など本物の素材を用いることで体に馴染みやすく、居心地の良い空間をデザインしています。本物の素材は、工業製品では出せない様々な凹凸を表現します。それは太陽の光を優しく拡散し、匂いを柔らかくします。また、素材に触れる事で、宿泊客が温かみや癒しを感じ、緩やかな時間を過ごすことができます。客室内には曲線を用いた建具、眼下に広がる砂を混ぜたアートを展示し、提灯を模した照明を使用することで旅館らしさを表現するとともに、居心地の良い空間としています。書斎は山が見える静かな位置に計画し、客室内に多様な風景を作り出しています。
