Description(English)	To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of Bauhaus, we designed the Korean Type 'Bau Type’, which inherited their formative spirit. Hangeul have very simple and concise shapes and structures such as dots, lines, squares, circles, and triangles. This is similar to Kandinsky's core education in the Weimar period, which was taught by Bauhaus professor Kandinsky, which is 'the pursuit of materials and forms of economics'. In this common sense, we came up with ‘Bau Type’ in search of the connection between Bauhaus and Hangeul.
Description(Native)	모던 디자인과 건축의 발상지이자 보금자리로서 현재까지 큰 영향력을 미치고 있는 바우하우스의 개교 100주년을 기념하고자 그들의 조형 정신을 이어받은 한글 서체 ‘바우체’를 디자인하였습니다. 한글의 글꼴은 점, 선, 사각형, 동그라미, 삼각형 등 매우 단순하고 간결한 형태와 구조를 지니고 있습니다. 자음을 단순화하면 세 가지 요소로 분류되고 모음을 이루는 기본 요소 또한 세 가지로 분류 되어집니다. 이는 바우하우스의 교수였던 칸딘스키가 핵심적으로 교육하였던 바이마르 시기의 기초 조형교육의 '재료와 형태의 경제성 추구'라는 점과 닮아 있습니다. 이러한 공통점에서 바우하우스와 한글 사이의 연결성을 찾아 바우체를 고안하게 되었습니다. 모듈러 시스템을 활용한 세벌식 한글의 형태로 디자인되어 닿자 19자, 홑자 21자, 받침 27자, 총 67자로 11,172자의 현대 한글을 모두 표현할 수 있습니다. 또한 ‘바우체’는 교육용 장난감 ‘바우 도장’으로 제작되어 한글을 더욱 더 쉽고 재밌게 익힐 수 있는 교구로서의 기능도 가지고 있습니다.
