Description(English)	Gyeongbokgung Palace, a national treasure of South Korea, is the most visited site by international tourists. Despite its current majesty, it suffered significant destruction in the past. "BACK OF GYEONGBOKGUNG" reveals the palace's hidden history and pain, allowing viewers to experience its untold side visually. The graphic style was inspired by the traditional “Dapo-style structure,” connecting circles and squares with lines to represent intricate architectural techniques and layouts. Distorted typography, resembling bomb damage, conveys the sorrow and untold stories of the Joseon Dynasty.
Description(Native)	‘BACK OF GYEONGBOKGUNG’은 외국인 방문객들에게 경복궁의 숨겨진 역사와 아픔을 시각적으로 전달하기 위해 기획된 프로젝트입니다. 경복궁은 대한민국의 국유재산이자 외국인들이 가장 많이 찾는 문화유산이지만, 이들이 잘못된 역사 정보를 접하는 경우가 종종 발생합니다. 이러한 점을 바로잡고, 진실된 역사를 효과적으로 전달하고자 이 프로젝트를 진행하게 되었습니다. 경복궁은 과거 전쟁과 화재로 인해 소실되는 아픔을 겪었고, 수차례의 재건을 통해 지금의 웅장한 모습을 되찾았습니다. 본 프로젝트는 이러한 ‘소실과 재건’이라는 역사적 서사를 시각 언어로 재해석한 작업입니다. 메인 그래픽은 경복궁의 전통 건축 양식인 ‘다포식 구조도’에서 영감을 받았습니다. 원과 사각형 등 기본 도형을 선으로 정교하게 연결해 전통 목조 건축의 구조적 미학을 표현했습니다. 또한, 폭격으로 훼손된 듯한 타이포그래피를 활용하여 조선이 겪었던 뼈아픈 역사를 표현하고, 이를 통해 외국인 관람객이 한국의 아픔을 간접적으로 체험할 수 있도록 설계되었습니다. ‘BACK OF GYEONGBOKGUNG’은 전통과 현대를 잇는 시각 언어를 통해, 문화재에 담긴 역사적 맥락을 새로운 방식으로 조명하고자 합니다.
