Description(English)	Hualien General Mansion 1936 is a cultural regeneration project that revitalizes a 1930s Japanese officer residence cluster into a civic and cultural landmark. Adopting a “Subtraction Design” strategy, the project removes barriers, reopens historic lanes, and integrates gardens, plazas, and public paths throughout the site. Eight timber buildings are preserved with minimal intervention, retaining tiled roofs, shoji windows, and engawa corridors. The design improves accessibility, spatial flow, and community engagement, creating an “Urban Living Room” where memory and modern life intertwine.
Description(Native)	「花蓮將軍府1936」為日治時期建造的高階軍官宿舍群，基地位於花蓮市中心、美崙溪畔，原有八幢日式木構建築，包括單棟與雙拼宿舍各型，其歷史與都市紋理意義深遠。本案以「減法設計」為策略，尊重歷史原貌，並以現代工法與開放性手法，重新連結基地與社區，將封閉的軍事居所轉化為融合建築、地景與社會互動的公共文化場域。 設計著重保留歷史建築的原貌與細節，修復工作依循傳統日式木構技法，包含榫卯結構、木柱、灰泥牆、杉木窗扇與深軒走廊等，並透過防蟲與防潮技術提升耐久性。屋瓦亦重新鋪設，延續原有黑瓦意象。內部空間導入現代機能需求，如空調、照明與消防設施，並進行家具嵌入設計，使歷史空間能因應當代使用模式。 景觀設計呼應原基地日式庭園特質，以水池、龜島、枯山水與自然石材營造空間層次，並借景美崙山與溪畔，打造內外交融的山水意象。基地圍牆全面拆除，改以綠籬與地被界定，並植入大面積草皮與迂迴步道，引導市民進入、停留與遊憩。 照明設計延續日式建築夜間光感，以低色溫洗牆、屋簷線性燈與樹下點光等手法，強調木構細節與植栽層次，營造溫潤、安靜的夜間氛圍。燈光策略亦兼顧安全與節能，並提升整體夜間可達性。 功能規劃上，結合文創品牌、茶屋、展演空間與在地市集等複合使用，讓歷史建築不僅為觀賞對象，更是生活參與的載體。透過公辦民營的合作模式，導入永續經營與活化歷史建築群的使用效能，讓空間成為串聯城市記憶與未來想像的文化生活聚落。
