Professor Ja Young Eunice Kim has a rich background in architecture, earning her undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster (B.A. Hons) and subsequently obtaining an AA Diploma from the Architectural Association, School of Architecture in London. Prior to embarking on her academic journey, she founded and operated her own design office, INSCAPE, where she honed her expertise in interior and architectural design. In 2008, she made the transition to academia as an assistant professor at Hanyang University, and later, in 2011, she joined the Department of Architecture at Korea University.

Professor Kim is deeply committed to imparting knowledge in architectural design and interior architecture. She actively collaborates with industry/ local government partners, providing her students with invaluable real-world challenges. Among her accomplishments is her pivotal role in the design of the Engineering College's latest additions—an innovative Active Learning Studio and an Active Learning Classroom. These spaces are carefully crafted to enhance the learning experience through thoughtful environmental design. She actively contributes to many international competitions, OLED Lighting Design, Post COVID 19 Design Competition and Osaka 2025 Expo Concept Competition among others. She also holds patents for an innovative custom-fit 3D print mask and a mask withouth earloops, and also possesses a Construction Digger Operation License.

Professor Kim's primary research interests lie in architectural design, focusing on tectonics, spatial dynamics, sustainability and societal transformations. She actively contributes to various architectural and interior projects on campus, underscoring her dedication to improving educational and welfare spaces for the university community. Additionally, her leadership extends to the role of Vice Dean of Planning in the College of Engineering, where she plays a key role in steering the strategic development of the academic institution.
